FAQs
1. What are the requirements for volunteering in this ministry?
All volunteers should be professing Christians with a regular attendance at CBC. Volunteers should also be actively participating in the community life of the church outside of the ministry.
Volunteers are strongly encouraged to be members of CBC to identify and commit to the local church community, but are not required to before they serve with us.
2. What are the time commitments involved?
Volunteers with the music teams are rostered to serve once every 4 weeks. Volunteers should expect to attend the rehearsal (2hrs) and the 9am and 11am (4hrs) they are rostered to serve.
Volunteers with the Committee should expect to attend the monthly meetings (2hrs) every 4th Wednesday of the month. These meetings are currently held online. Volunteers should also expect to spend time outside of these meetings to carry out their respective responsibilities depending on their roles.
3. What kind of skills or experience are necessary?
Volunteers with the music teams should have basic competency in reading and playing/singing. Volunteers are not expected to have experience playing within a band, although prior experience is greatly welcomed.
Volunteers with the Committee are not expected to have prior experience, although basic teamwork is expected.
4. How will I be trained for my role?
Volunteers will be guided by being paired with more experienced team members to learn on-the-job. Volunteers will only be expected to perform their roles solo when ready and recommended by their respective mentors.
Volunteers with the Committee will be given personal guidance on how to carry out their responsibilities with the guidance of the other members of the Committee. Volunteers will be paired with a senior member as a buddy to assist them in transitioning into their new roles.
5. What kind of support or resources are available for volunteers?
Volunteers with the music teams are not expected to have their own instruments and can loan instruments from the common inventory for their services.
We also strive for a culture of grace within the ministry and encourage members to reach out to the ministry leaders for feedback and pastoral care. We seek to engage volunteers personally from time to time as part of this effort.
6. Can I volunteer if I'm only available on certain days or times?
Volunteers with our music teams are encouraged to be present for rehearsals (typically Saturdays) and Sunday services (9am + 11am). Music teams are rostered to serve about once every 4 weeks.
Volunteers for the Worship Committee are encouraged to be present for the monthly committee meetings (4th Wednesdays online) and other ministry events such as fellowship gatherings etc.
